What Kindness!

Yesterday I worked for hours on a creative project that left me in tears… walking away feeling like a failure. After all the time I spent on the project, I had to call it quits. It just wasn’t working the way I wanted it to. Quite possibly it is also a ‘two-person’ project and not one… and I can be stubborn sometimes to ask for help. I’m not sure why I’m like this… but it is definitely something I know I need to work on. I’m more conscious of it in other areas of my life, but when it comes to me being creative with my hands, I usually don’t have issues with getting what’s in my brain worked out into the project at hand – but this time I did.
In the moment when I get super-down on myself and fully embrace the attitude of “why bother?” it’s then that a still, small, voice (which I often don’t hear right away) reminds me that I’m not a failure. I may have failed at the project but I’m not a failure.
I’m in awe of God!
Of His kindness.
His patience.
His faithfulness to always be there.
His gentle whispers that bring comfort to the soul.
He is the “God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.” – Romans 4:17
He is the master of resurrecting all that is life-less and broken.
He is the redeemer of all failures, mistakes, and shortcomings.
He is the restorer of all that we thought was lost…the lost hope…lost dreams...lost passions.
He calls us who He created us to be. While we may see where we lack or cling to what we are not, He continually sees His Beloved.
What Kindness! Even when we’re at our worst – He sees us at our best. Who He created us to be. His Beloved.
So, if you’re in the midst of feeling like a failure, or whether that’s a moment waiting for you in the not-so-distant future, don’t focus on the voice that speaks of your shortcomings, but the one that speaks to who you truly are…the voice of your Creator! You are far more than you could ever accomplish! You are already a great accomplishment!
Thank you for your kindness Lord! Thank you for giving life to our weary souls. Speaking life into our fractured thinking. Breathing life into our brokenness.
